EDUCATION:

EXPERIENCE:

Leancy Rupert was born in Philadelphia in 1950, and grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina.  He studied photography and art in high school, and, in 1968, joined the U.S. Coast Guard as a Photographer.  Leancy spent four years in the Coast Guard, where he participated in two polar expeditions and spent two years stationed in New Orleans at the U.S. Coast Guard 8th District Headquarters.

 After his release from the Coast Guard, Leancy spent twenty years doing woodworking, photography, and construction.   In 1976, Leancy moved to the Southwest, where he has lived ever since, since 1992 dividing his time between Flagstaff and Tucson, Arizona.

 Following an injury, Leancy decided to return to school, and in 1998 enrolled at Coconino Community College in Flagstaff, where he received three Associate Degrees, in construction management, alternative energy and technology, and fine arts, all in two and a half years.  He then transferred to Northern Arizona University, where he completed his BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) in May, 2008.

 Leancy is a Past President of the Artist’s League at Coconino Community College, and a Past President of the Flagstaff Artist’s Coalition.
