This installation is the first part of a four-part project entitled Baet Al-Nahrain (House of Two Rivers).

Part 1 – Gallery installation illustrating the numbers of Iraqi war dead (655,000, through June, 2006), the majority of whom were civilians.   See Is the United States Committing Genocide In Iraq? by A. K. Gupta in November, 2007, Z Magazine and Mortality after the 2003 invasion of Iraq: a cross-sectional cluster sample survey, a British study by the Lancet published online October 11, 2006.
                Wood (various types), Cloth, Wax, Sand, Paper.   Approximately 20’ x 40’, as installed.

Part 2 – Re-installation of figures outdoors, where they will be burned.
               Performance, digitally photographed, still and motion, from different angles.

Part 3 – Production of a DVD comprising the still and motion shots of the burning, with music and text.

Part 4 – A Gallery installation of the burnt remains of the wooden figures.  A re-installation resembling Part 1, but with only the ashes of the figures.
